Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.4G ED

Nikon has announced a new fast prime lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED – finally a new, fast prime for FX and DX format, long awaited by all available light fans:

It features all the bells and whistles: silent wave motor, Nano Crystal Coat, two ED and two aspherical lens elements. Nikon speaks of “pleasing blur characteristics” so we can expect a smooth bokeh.

Nikon has announced a new lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR. Pretty new for Nikon: a VR II (vibration reduction) in a wide angle lens.

The day of the Superzooms

Fujifilm is announcing FinePix HS10 featuring a 30x optical zoom (24-720mm!) and Olympus is introducing the superzoom models SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ with 30x and 15x zoom lenses. All cameras feature HD video recording but the HS10 also features high speed movie recording at 1000 fps.

Don’t be surprised when you can’t expect too much optical quality from a Superzoom lens

Samsung NX10

Samsung has launched the NX10, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It features

  • a 14.6 MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor
  • 720p video with H.264 compression
  • eye level electronic viewfinder
  • 3″ OLED screen

Additionally Samsung now has a new 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens, a 55-200mm telezoom and a 30mm F2 pancake lens. It will be interesting to see reports how the camera is recognized in the photographic world…
